Standardized processes. The work follows predictable patterns with clear rules. When 90% of cases follow the same logic, automation thrives. When every instance is unique, it breaks.
Specific success metrics. You can define the win in one sentence using a number. "Reduce invoice processing from 4 hours to 30 minutes." Not "improve efficiency" or "enhance productivity." Dollars saved. Hours recovered. Error rates reduced.
Low integration complexity. Fewer failure points, less dependency on other systems, faster time to value. You build capabilities and organizational confidence before tackling bigger challenges.
